eBay for Charity will help MS researchers

Registering with MissionFish and selling through eBay for Charity has helped MS Research charity supporting new technologies to further the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Researchers have been nominated for Best MS Researcher and Best MS Research Project awards.

Their research evaluated the new measurement system designed to record upper limb intention tremor in individuals with MS during functional movements of the arm. Advanced orthotics and miniature robotics will help further significantly the understanding of upper limb tremor and develop means of suppressing unwanted arm movements and restoring useful function. This is a neglected area of disability; one where few groups conduct research.

It is important to continue this valuable work. MS Research charity launched the 365 Campaign to raise £1 million to fund new routes to treatment of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at Frenchay Hospital and the University of Bristol. MissionFish and eBay for charity will play a crucial part in this quest.

Why 365? Because MS is a condition that does not give those with the disease a day off. MS affects young adults and sometimes children, once diagnosed it will affect the rest of a person’s life. This means an adult life-time of daily battle against symptoms like muscle weakness and painful spasms often with loss of mobility, fatigue, tremor, bladder and bowel problems, sensory problems, difficulty walking and visual impairment. In the UK MS affects 100,000 persons.
